  About Team Shiraz ...

It all started with one woman who turned 40 in 2005.  But this is no ordinary woman.  It's someone with an unrivalled passion for life and power to infect others.  One day in September 2004, Belinda came to Gone Fishing cafe and asked the Fisher, "Eh neighbour, wanna do a half-triathlon next year?". And the rest was history ... since then, the Sprint For Life! movement was started, as we religiously encourage others to join us and do something fun together, and possibly get fitter and healthier along the way. Team Shiraz was coined by Dr. Low as we replenished our body fluids with a bottle of fine Australian Shiraz during a talk he gave at our inaugural gathering in October 2004.

Team Shiraz is essentially an informal community of friends and patrons of Gone Fishing that gets together periodically to share resources on training, nutrition, injury prevention, negotiating discounts from sports equipment suppliers, fund raising, etc, inspiring one another to train for and take part in triathlons.   Some of us train together, while others feast together.  Here's what we believe ...

It’s about believing in oneself.  It’s about making a commitment to turn one’s belief into reality.  It’s about getting in touch with the human spirit.  It’s about making a contribution and serving a social cause while you workout. It’s about community building.  And lastly, it’s also about having fun while you do all that.

Age is not a matter.  To join the community, simply email kenny@gonefishing.com.sg.  Encourage your friends to take part too!
