Joy@Work™

Creating a Great Place to Work

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" ~ Proverb

  About the Joy@Work™ Workshop ...

Must work and joy be mutually exclusive? Does work need to be a drudgery, devoid of the joy and excitement experienced at play? What does it take to fill our work with joy?  Given that we typically spend a good majority of our adult life at work, can we really afford to limit our experiences of joy to only after work?  How can we make Mondays feel like Fridays?  Is it possible to enjoy our work, regardless of what we do?

These are the questions that inspired the conception of Joy@Work™, a transformational workshop aimed at enabling and empowering individuals to be the creative force of joy and fulfillment at work, and make a collective commitment to create a great place to work. Joy@Work™ is NOT a typical morale-booster that leaves participants feeling momentarily high and motivated through games and fun activities.  It is a springboard for long term organizational transformation by effecting paradigm shifts within an open and honest environment that makes true team-based learning possible. Through the application of various contemporary disciplines in organizational development,  participants are invited to examine their individual goals, values and beliefs that shape their experiences at work and at the same time, equipping them with the fundamentals of emotional mastery and personal empowerment that enable them to create joy in their work as well as personal lives. It is a revolutionary approach for organizations with leaders who believe that a great work place is to be built on authenticity and integrity, the foundations for any truly people-centric organization.

Conducted in small groups (preferably less than 20), participants will learn the foundation for being the creative force of joy through collective inquiries, personal reflections, coaching conversations and group activities. It entails an in-depth exploration of meanings and insights on core issues relevant to the work place. Highly interactive and experiential in nature, this workshop resembles a boot-camp on “How to make Mondays feel like Fridays”.

Over the duration of eight hours, participants are expected to gain the following:-

  • Fundamentals of Emotional Mastery

  • Knowledge on how to take charge of one's state of being

  • Clarity on values, beliefs and meanings relating to ‘Work’

  • Access to the source of joy and fulfillment

  • Strategies for approaching causes of unhappiness at work

  • A greater sense of control on attaining work-life balance

  • Closer bond with colleagues through a shared language and team learning experience

  • A shared commitment to create a great work place

  • Some degree of confidence and competence in attaining a joyful state which facilitates one to bring out one's personal best at work

Words from past participants ...

"This workshop made me look at people in a different and more positive light."

"I think it was a great opportunity for us to sit together to articulate these issues that so often we tend to neglect or forget. … I feel this workshop was helpful because it makes me even more sure that I’m doing the right thing."

"I felt that I’ve had a personal ‘mentor’ or consultant who helps me with my ‘blind spots’."

"Work and life need not be separate."

It is no secret that people who enjoy their work usually perform better. Creating a joyful workforce not only elevates organizational performance but also improves the retention of talent. The ability to create joyful experiences and fulfillment at work is not just a wishful ideal but a real possibility, and Joy@Work™ is a means to make that possibility a reality at your work place.
